IDEA Scholarship Program
About the Scholarship
The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Scholarship is designed to support qualified candidates from historically underrepresented backgrounds in the public relations and social media marketing industry and in America’s workplaces. Eligible applicants seeking an unpaid Student Internship or a paid Post Graduate Program position at J/PR will be considered for this scholarship, which will provide need-based financial support for transportation, housing, and/or wages, allowing out of market scholarship recipients to live near and work at one of our headquarter offices (San Diego and New York City) for the duration of the program.
Our goal for the IDEA scholarship is to foster the growth and advancement of a more diverse next generation of public relations and social media professionals. By increasing the accessibility of experiential learning, providing mentorship and sponsorship, and helping establish industry connections, we hope to lay the groundwork for a long, productive career journey for historically underrepresented PR professionals. J/PR guarantees at least (1) scholarship recipient annually.
The IDEA scholarship includes:
- Need-based stipend for the duration of the Post Graduate Program or Student Internship
- Competitive hourly wages
- Mentoring, counseling, and peer support to coach the candidate and support professional growth
- And let’s not forget company culture initiatives: Fit Fridays, Lunch + Learn sessions, team outings and hybrid work schedule
Who is eligible?
The J/PR IDEA Scholarship is intended to provide support to individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, disabilities, veteran backgrounds, and diverse life experiences or financial hardships. If you don’t identify with those groups but want to see more people like you in the PR industry, we want to hear from you!
Candidates should show a demonstrated interest in the public relations/social media industry or have experience from school, internships or previous work.
