A Toast to the Solar Eclipse
Spring 2024|Lifestyle
There’s only one suitable beverage to enjoy while taking in the phenomenon that is the Great North American Eclipse: Merry Edwards Cuvée Eclipse Sparking Wine. On Aug. 21, 2017, the last total solar eclipse visible from North America occurred. That same day Merry Edwards brought in the very first fruit from the Richaven Vineyard at Merry’s home and crafted a sparkling wine called Cuvée Eclipse which was released just last month (February 2024) for the first time. The sparkling wine showcases notes of ripe Gravenstein apple, lemon zest, hazelnut, marzipan and candied ginger. It’s a bright, crisp and balanced sparkler, with tart apple, brioche and toasty almond notes and a smooth, creamy palate…in other words, it’s celestial.
